Local Field Trip and on-campus activities

After morning assembly, all students and staff will go to meet Travis Shaw, the director of education at the Virginia Piedmont Heritage Area who will lead us on a guided walk through Gilbert’s Corner Park to discover how people have been using the Piedmont landscape for centuries. The group will learn how Native American trade routes grew into the modern road system we see today, how agriculture defined the region from the 18th to 20th centuries, and how native and non-native species shape our landscape.

When we return to The Hill School, all students will enjoy a sports activity with Coach Christian, have lunch and recess together with staff, and then gather for a short afternoon assembly before dismissal.

July 12

9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Activities and a MOVIE!

– Bring your stuffy day –

The students will break out into their peer groups for morning assembly: Juniors (grades 2-5) and Seniors (grades 6-8).

Juniors will have cooking and art classes plus a mini recess. And DJ Soren will lead a "Music Production Crash Course" for the Seniors.

After morning activities, all staff and students will gather for lunch and the film, A Mindcraft Movie.

Groups will meet for a short afternoon assembly before dismissal.

July 19

9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

On-campus activities and a special Typewriter Poetry Workshop for the Juniors and a local field trip for the Seniors

The students will break out into their peer groups for morning assembly.

Juniors will have cooking and art classes plus a mini recess. The Seniors will go to Foxcroft School for a special cooking workshop with Ms. Tina and Ms. Laura. They will return to Hill School in time for afternoon assembly.

After morning activities, Juniors will have lunch and recess followed by a special Typewriter Poetry workshop.

Groups will meet for a short afternoon assembly before dismissal.

July 26

9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

On-campus Activities plus swimming

The students will break out into their peer groups for morning assembly.

Juniors will have cooking and art classes plus a mini recess. The Seniors will enjoy a teen workshop.

After morning activities all students and staff will have lunch and recess.

All students and staff will prepare and depart for the Middleburg Community Center for swimming from 12:00 to 3:00.

NOTE: We will send a special permission form for this excursion.

August 02

11:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Field Trip Day – Bowling!

All students and staff will gather for a short morning assembly then depart for a fun day of bowling and a pizza lunch at Bowlero in Sterling, Virginia from 12:30 to 2:00.

When we return to The Hill School, all students and staff will enjoy a special ice cream social to conclude the summer program before dismissal.
